Type Locality and Naming
Along the Kokterek River, Talas Alatau Ridge. O.I. Sergun'kova in 1937 (382, p. 54) as part of the Tournaisian stage under the name "Kokterek horizon". In 1971, by the decision of the MGS, it was included in the Devonian system.
Synonym: Kokterek Suite, Коктерекская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Dolomitized dark gray, gray, and calcareous dolomites. Thickness 40-130m.

Contains late Devonian brachiopods - Mesoplica simplicior Whidb., Avonia niger Meist., Cyrtospirifer kičkinensis Serg., C. kurban Nal., Adolfia deflexa Roem. and others, individual bryozoans, crinoids, gastropods.
